What Jeep do I drive?: KJ
Default Radiator Hoses

Hi All
Just got a price on bottom radiator hose for the 2.8CRD from my local dealer, $390 for the hose so is there any where I can get hoses cheaper than this. Ridiculous price for a piece of rubber.
Cheers Bill

Try morris4x4 in the US, if your hose is leaking you can get RESCUE TAPE resists up to 260 deg, you wrap it tightly around the hose and it chemically bonds to itself. Oil, water rsistant, good back up for turbo hoses. I bought mine from Jaycar electronics.

Here is a couple of examples. Wooders web page looks to be down ATM but I'll bet he is much cheaper than $390

Believe me, it's Chrysler Jeep Australia you have to blame, not the dealer. My local dealer is as disgusted as I am with the prices - he is always happy to fit parts I have bought from overseas.

What I've heard (but not confirmed) is that Chrysler US have contracted the parts distribution in the Asia Pacific to Caterpillar, who ship everything to their Singapore depot and distribute from there - so there are plenty of middlemen all taking their cut!

That's correct, on average Jeep parts from Chrysler Australia are 5 times the cost in the US

It is not only the price, when I have looked into getting some bits they come from Singapore but takes three weeks to get here, everything must go into Melbourne then get distributed from there. I have bought stuff from the East Coast USA and it was on my door step in Mackay in 4 days, mostly though it is more like 7-10 days.
If it is right that Caterpillar is tied up with distribution that explains a lot as they are a bigger rip off for CAT parts than any car dealership that I know.
