I had a similar system at one time for a second battery. The strap could not hold the battery over corrugations and or over big bumps. There is a lot of weight in that battery. I would secure it heaps better. Mine is now in a steel case. That plastic one won't hold it at all if you get into an accident.

Ill keep that in mind, i intend on making a tray for it to sit on the wheel arch so i might incorperate sides to stop it flying anywhere.

Great setup. What is the reason to run the earth all the way back to the main battery instead of earthing it under the body to the chassis?

It ensures it has a good earth. I cant remember who I was talking to but they recommended me to run it all the way back to the main battery. I think it was the guy at the 12 v shop. There isn't a drama just earthing it at the back but I preferred to get a good earth. I'm pretty sure it was because there is far less resistance through the earth cable as to the car body. I'm sure someone here can shed some light on it.

I did relocate it but I never got around to making the tray for it to sit on. Is this what you are talking about? Did you have any photos?
