In all seriousness I would not be surprised if the US market Cherokee goes back to Liberty and the Grand Cherokee is renamed a Wagoneer, complementing the Grand Wagoneer.

I'm as much a bleeding heart as anyone is but this sort of performative activism is becoming the mainstream over there, they'll get their way in time.

Because of the name Cherokee on the sides of my GC I actually took an interest in the Cherokee people and I’m taking a great interest in learning about them. Surely I’m not the only one. If it wasn’t for the name then I wouldn’t have even thought about it. I wonder if the complainers have thought about this? Surely I’m not the only one to be doing the same thing?

I mean, if they launched the Jeep Clint Eastwood or the Jeep Kim Kardashian without asking permission, do you reckon they’d just let it slide. Hell no - because Jeep would be trying to profit by associating its product with the identify of someone famous.

Frankly, I don’t see how this is any different.

You don’t even need to enter into questions of cultural appropriation to see that Jeep have been pushing it for years now. It’s a matter of when, not if, they retire the name.

By the way, as a Cowboy, I’m putting this out there - we are NOT HAPPY with the Wrangler name being used without us Cow-people being paid many Billions of Dollars.

Ahhh, but the Pope is known to have driven a Jeep as one of his Popemobiles in the US.

When will people with the surname of Ford etc. start suing?

Will Mopar be putting the observation level rooftop in its catalogue?
