Yep, my GC diesel is unstoppable in sand, but I don't tow, so that could be one thing.
When it bogged was it spinning wheels and digging down, or was it just losing power?
Did you say it went into limp mode? I'd be taking a OBD scanner with me and keeping an eye on error messages. It could have been sand getting in the wheel speed sensor and causing problems, but you'd normally get a service 4WD message on the dash.
And then if you get stuck try low range for sure.

2014 WK2 Overlander Sand Bogging Problems
Had the Off Road Kit installed(installed at Detroit Jeep Factory before shipping to Australia)18 inch rims, new Bridgestone A/T 3 months old tyres. These tyres also on 80 series Landcruiser.A lot of interested people on Fraser who seen the problem I had all had similar tyres and most had about 18 psi in their tyres.I did forget to mention the GC went into idle mode when pulling itself out of bog, using Trax Max.2 others said the GC lost drive to front wheels.

well then sounds like you have a problem with your specific wk2 then if it went into limp mode , no reflection on the cars ability to navigate sand .
Like suggested get on odb scanner on and see what codes it's pulling up or get it to a reputable mechanic .
All cars get bogged in sand, doesn't matter what brand they are . Just go watch the videos on the "I got bogged at inskip point" facebook page . see more cruisers and pootrolls etc get bogged .
And i never use low range in sand . I've never had to use it .

Yeah, my money is on the wheel speed sensor then, obd scanner should show an error if it went into limp.
I haven;t had to use low range either, but it would be a good test if it happens again, it may refuse to go in, or at least lock up your diffs to help you get out.
Is it petrol/diesel? 5 speed or 8?

I tow my 2.5t caravan up the beach to Teewah/Double Island point twice a year with my '14 Overland on 18" Hankooks and it has been unstoppable. It was around 2014 a software patch was released specifically to fix an issue where they were going into limp, just search for "sand" in this forum and you'll find the details.
To the delight of the crowds I towed my Caravan past a stuck Patrol one day on the exit at Noosa. On another day I waited for ages whilst a 200 couldn't get off the beach at Freshwater and when it came to my turn I drove the same line as him and it didn't even look like stopping.
I had a '12 Laredo previously without the fancy rear diff and though I never stuck her it wasn't nearly as competent as the locking Diff on the Overland. In my experience these things are awesome on sand - being relatively light, heaps of power and a good foot print gives them all the tools they need.

When towing a trailer on sand take the trailer tires down below 10psi, I've had my camper tires at 5psi in really soft sand, the lower you go the more your trailer will float over the sand and stop being an anchor
