Default CRD Regearing

Has anyone looked at regearing their XH? I haven't seen much mention of gears for the XH/WH.

I believe the stock ring and pinion on the CRD are 3.73 so an upgrade to 4.10 may have advantages off-road and get some fuel economy improvements for larger rubber, especially around town.
I think the rear diff is the Chrysler 8.25 but not sure about the front.

Anyone done it with QDII ELSD?

Also, does the GDE tune and tyre size calibration do anything more than adjust the speedo reading? ie does it change gear selection/up/down shift etc?

I'm running JK rims and tyres, 245/75/17 Silent Armour and fuel economy is consistent at 13-13.5 L/100 combined. I think there is room for improvement. Other than a lift and the wheels, it is stock setup.

Stock CRD should be 3.55 gears in Australia.

4.1's are now available from Nitro Gear (Murchisons are local dealer) but you need to send your tcm to the states to get the new ratios programmed. (trust me you cant change them any other way...) These are the only gears available for the WH/XH front diff.

GDE flash doesnt change tyre size, but some flashpaks do work on the CRD platform (thread on it in the GC section somewhere)

AEV Superlift programmer does work on tyre size as well.

For tyre size and code clearing i have heard they work on the CRD but no first hand experience.

I have the AEV Superlift EGR module and it does work on the CRD for changing the tyre size and therefore shift patterns etc. I dont know if the diff change works or not as it only does the 4.1 ratio and i havent got those gears yet.

In the N23 thread in the GC section i think there are a couple of guys going to try the Superchips on a CRD and see what it can do. According to the manufacturer they dont work at all on a CRD.

Thanks for that info, valpacer.

I'd only be looking to go up one 'level' on the gears, but reprogramming sounds like a bit of a hassle.

I've read on a thread somewhere that a version of the GDE tune can set tyre size (in the 'other' options menu?). Might confirm with Stu before ordering one.

With the aircon on and the larger tyres, the gear changes aren't too smooth at the moment.

Im currently running 3.73's on 33" tyres, and its not too bad, better than the 3.55's but 4.10 or 4.56 would be better

I have TCM limp issues and have yet to fix it....

That GDE will be the JK GDE tune i believe, but worth checking.

@Go'Ard, finding an AEV Superlift programmer will not be easy! Cant get new anymore im told...
