02kj (who now runs a Grand and uses a different forum name) had a battery box made up which held a second battery under the floor near the transfer case. Neat set-up.

Thank you all, gives me plenty of ideas.

Mark, yours is obviously a great option, but a drawer system is not really within my budget, even though I've seen yours and it looks great!

Cmohr, some noob questions for you mate...

1) I'm assuming you have this running off a red arc or similar?
2) Is this one of those smaller lithium batteries I've seen?
3) This would be enough to run the fridge right?
4) What the hell does an inverter do? Allow you to run 240V home appliances? Like plug in a phone charger or something?
5) Where do you keep the inverter?

That is all...

Gday Mate, Mine is the Baintech duel battery system, the battery is a AGM (Glass Matt) 100amp/hr, (about the size of a normal battery) It can run a fridge for a few days, the inverter is a 240 volt power supply yes and I can plug all sorts of 240 volt chargers ect into it, I can also run my fridge on it as well, I have it just behind the back seats on a small shelf (part of my rear storage boxes. I have it on its side, under my drivers seat, don't miss that space. I originally had it in the boot, but lost too much space.

Didn't think you could fit a battery under the seat. Thanks for the info.

This is my dual batteries set up. Aux on the left and main on the right. I did have two D34's but one died when I was up in Karumba. Which had bucklies of finding another optima, so I got what ever would fit. Which is a marine battery 77amphour, maybe one day I will get another optima. I found it was able to run my 40L waeco freezer over night, no problem. I think I could get close to another night too. But we were usually driving each day so it was always topped up. Just down on the bottom right, below the D34 there is a dual battery controller. Squeezed in between the battery and the side wall. The red and black cables to the bottom are for the winch and the red cables to the top, one is for the 100amp Anderson plug for the trailer and the other is from the battery controller.

Hey Hoogz, how did you fit them both there? I would like to have both in the engine bay but had pretty much given up on that. Did you create your own battery tray?

Hey Jeepboy,
To be honest, I bought the car with it already fitted. Although, I know the work was done at ARB. I think they made a custom tray. I had seen some pre-made trays somewhere online but I cant seem to find them anymore, sorry. From looking at it they have made a little bracket to hold the relay/fuse box and pushed it as far forward as it would go. It a bit of a pain to get into but, I don't need to go in there often. Also there is a sensor underneath the original plastic tray. I think its a overheat or something. They just left it connected to wiring harness and cable-tied it to one of the looms, probably so it doesn't throw a warning. I have never had a problem though. It probably wouldn't be that hard to knock up if you have some sheet metal, bender and welder. Anyway good luck and know anything is possible..
