Most modern diesels get an input from the brake pedal stop switch to the ECU, it is a long shot but worth considering.
Unless this other diesel has the same Bosch ECU as the OP's jeep best not cloud the problem. The TD had at least 3 different Bosch ECU's over the years. The stop light switch input is primarily for cruse control. Some had it. The soft ware for it is in the ECU, its just a matter of if its turned on.

There are members from this forum commenting on that one.
There is also people mixing up petrol motor issues. There is no electric fuel pump on the TD. its all mechanical. The CPS is very robust & seldom gives trouble, unlike the sensors on the petrol ones.

No, it hasn't happened since and that was 3 weeks ago, i am leaving it to see if it was just a one off.
