Default Hayden fan install

Hi guys,
I have just received my new hayden 2905 viscous fan and im wondering if someone has some instructions for install. I had a quick look and the fan shroud seems to be the hard part to get off, is there a simple way of doing it or do i have to pull everything apart to get it off so i can get the factory fan out?
Cheers
Willy

8 mm bolts out either side of the fan shroud (plastic) Undo top of air box and fold it back, or remove the top part. 8mm bolts on top of either side of shroud,
1x10mm bolt for water washer bottle, undo this, reach down, and slide the top of the water washer motor out and then gently pull the motor upwards, removing it from the bottle. (no need to unplug it or anything else) remove bottle, assistance by pulling the rad hose to the side will be helpful.

*go under car, follow bottom rad hose, it has 2 hose clamps on it, cut them off.
*go back to top of engine, you have 5 or so plastic push in clips holding the air dam *plastic flap over the grill to rad, remove these clips (use a big flat head and needle nose pliers.(if they are hard they will break apart)
*drivers side there is the plug for the electrical fan, unplug it on the outside of the fan shroud, now put your hand inside the shroud(very tight area) and follow the wire to the center of the fan, it has a little L bracket that holds the wire away from the fan, and then unplug the wire from the fan motor unit.

*get a 13mm ring spanner, and undo the engine bracket/lifting hook plate. x2 bolts. (2nd bolt on passenger side will not come fully out as it hits the fan. undo as much as you can then wack the bolt out. By doing this you have much more room!!!!

you need a 37mm shifter, place it on the nut of the fan, and bash it like a man with a good size hammer, then turn 30degs, repeat, dont be a girl wack the shit out of this and turn, repeat till you have been around 2-3 times.. This will shock the fan nut as its seized onto the block (I have spent 2 hours undoing them before working this method out)

*pull fan shroud off the rad, it will get caught on the fan now, crack the fan by turning the shifter to the drivers side (reverse thread) and screw driver towards the passenger side.
Once the nut is cracked, undo the fan with your hand by spinning it till it falls off, then remove fan and shroud together as one.

*you will need to replace the 4 smaller bolts that mount the fan to the hub as the threads differ..

*put some anti seize or atleast some grease on the thread of the new fan.

Easier option to remove fan shroud while fan is still on is looking at the engine from front of car, from 4oclock to 8oclock needs to be shaved by about 15mm, to allow the shroud to be removed with out removing the engine fan.

I should do a picture write up next time I remove one

*source, I replace the timing belts/work on these engines a few times every week, one of the 2 jk's I own is a CRD. Have owned more then one CRD. *

If you are in VIC, I think I still got a few of the bolts you need left over as well. cost like $5 bucks or so

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE FAN SHROUD !!!!!!!
I m assuming this 2905 is going on a CRD because that is what I put on mine. WORK FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR.
Stop the fan pulley from rotating by inserting a screwdriver into one of the holes and locking it against whatever works (Aircon compressor from memory)
Crack the nut on the base of the fan clutch ( I used a 15 inch shifter)
When the fan comes off, JACK the BODY of the car up as far as it will go without lifting the wheels and the fan will slide out. This worked for me on my AUTO CRD JK 07 Installation is the reverse of this procedure.
Cheers, Mick

PS.. The fan is not reverse threaded.. it screws off in the same direction as a normal nut. The fan is designated reverse rotation, ie the pulley spins CCW.
Have a close look at the thread direction in your new hayden before you bash the old one in any direction with a hammer....

I think spanner is 36 not 37mm. Removing the shroud isn't difficult after you have done it once. Good skill to know especially if you want to clean radiator or replace serpentine belt etc.

It may be possible to remove fan without shroud but I would suggest that unless you are in a massive hurry to remove it and get familiar with your engine bay.

while looking at the fan it comes off like a normal nut would yes, I didn't mean reveres threaded, I choose the wrong word on that one sorry,
Could be 37, I have a shifter so not 100% sure on the size, I guessed at 37mm :/
Remove the shroud, inspect and clear rad, check serpentine tensioner and check serpentine belt.
You can cut the shroud 10mm with out the need to lift the car, or in your case lift the car up, but either way if the car has more then 50k on it, its a good idea to be checking the serpentine tensioner as they are a consumable item.
It takes me less then 15 mins to remove the shroud, and I can inspect everything.
both options have been explained so you can go down which ever path you like, Good luck on the job.
