I'm pretty sure recaro do direct replacement seats with airbags and the correct bases

Another option is to get an air bag compliant seat cover with lumbar support option. I know Bartact from US have that and there should be others. I might get one down the track thou I don't find back support to be that bad for JK.

Recaro's are great if you've got $4500 per seat to waste

Yeah, happy to pay to get the right result, but not sure if I'm "$4500/seat" happy....

Might check out the seat cover option as well.

A little out of left field perhaps, but have you considered having the stock seat frames re padded / recovered ? For the sort of $ that the aftermarket want you could have a lot of rework done.

Perhaps a chat with your chiro / phisio may give you some insights into where to add / remove material ?
