Happy to report Tim successfully refurb'd my turbo actuator
Some dry solder joints and a new electric motor
It's been a week and a half, given I'm up nth and Tim's down sth.
So be prepared to wait.

Third thing I did when refitting the actuator was,
drop the damn clip down into the valley somewhere
Trip to CBC and of course they didn't have Jeep size
(6mm is the inside groove measurement)
So I've got some 6.5mm and squeezed the eclip with some pliers
Not ideal but will remind myself to order the correct size

While the Jeep has been waiting for repair
I finally got around to filling and painting the bullbar
If you remember I blocked off the fog light inserts

So I bogged and smoothed the welds, and a few coats of paint later

Those park lights bugged me too so I just screwed some LED's to the lens
Dodgy I know, but still better than those dull lights I had

Default Intermittent Boost Fault

After having the turbo vane actuator overhauled
I'm still experiencing intermittent boost issues

Cold start; full boost
Driving all day; full boost
Stop for five minutes & restart; limited boost

Believing it to be a heat soak issue ..
Are the turbo vanes binding up ?
No because on hot ignition the turbo actuator still has full movement.
Highly likely it's an electrical issue.
So we got onto the bosh supplier and ordered a new boost sensor

There is an online database of bosch parts for our vehicles
Save stuffing around with Jeep

The new sensor in position just past the throttle body
See how it goes

No more lighting bolts
But she's losing power after 3K rpm
Must be a leak somewhere

Default The End

Thought I'd better come and finish my Jeep story.

On a trip home, during all this COVID crap,
I found myself once again at the mercy of the Jeep.
She'd been going fine for a few months and then ...
started to lose power again and the lighting bolt came on.
Just over 200km's from anywhere worth stopping,
the bluedriver was used to reset the computer and wait for the engine to cool down.
(turns out to be a faulty EGR valve)
As long as I didn't ask more than half throttle we could drive along fine.
So overtaking B doubles was out of the question.

Several hours later and now back on the bitumen,
the engine started thumping and banging,
the tacho needle jumping all over the place and a strong smell of diesel
The fuel filter sensor had split and blown diesel everywhere.
Waiting again for the engine to cool down,
I was able to get fuel line and bypass the filter all together.
After bleeding the fuel system, now the Jeep & I were both covered in diesel.
A kind cattleman who'd stopped to help, offered me 10 litres of water to clean myself and the engine.

Off we went again and this time managed to complete the trip home,
even if it was a slooow journey. What usually takes 9 to 10 hours,
had just taken over 15 hours.
So I parked the Jeep up in disgust.

After a week of considering my options,
I dragged the old VT wagon out and
finally fitted the L67 I've had in the shed.
Paid the rego on the commodore and
handed the Jeep's plates in.

Last weekend the Jeep went to it's new home.
I'm disappointed after all the time and money I've put into it,
but at the end of the day I need a
comfortable & reliable vehicle to travel long distances.

I'd like tot thank everyone for their friendship, advice, and encouragement
over the last 5 years, it's been great to be part of this forum.
And I hope you may all enjoy your Jeeps for many more years.

Mate sorry to here she finally broke you! I know your pain in having a little bit of mistrust in a car for those longer trips, I'm actually running a daily (a wagon of the same era as the VT but a hell of a lot uglier) as its as reliable as a rock.
Thanks for the contribution you've made to the forums as I've used your posts many a time to help me in troubleshooting the various Jeep peculiarities.
