Shifting issues inside a 722.6 often come from a faulty conductor plate

For sure. I've already sussed out prices and for genuine I'll be going with ID Parts. Part number 1402701161. Should be about $240 delivered. First I'm going to swap batteries and see what happens. Then I'll move on from there. It would be good to clearly identify what the problem is BEFORE I replace all the parts with new as my wallet just couldn't stand the pain.

Save the money from a new battery
spend it on decent internal torx set to remove the valve body
Slightly discharged battery will have zero effect on shift
because the engine is running the alternator kicks the voltage up
Did you check the battery voltage with the engine running?
The solenoids are very robust
And the wiring is hardy

The 722.6 also suffers from oil in the main harness connector

Without the diagnostic tool you won't know for sure what it is and you'll end up swapping parts in an attempt to fix the problem.

I suspect the conductor plate and shifter board problems are lumped in with others under P0702.

ren0vator, you would be surprised to hear that the older 2.7's sometimes go into limp mode because of a worn out battery....

Connector plug was replaced when I did a trans fluid change about 6 months ago. So for the time being I'm discounting that as a potential cause.

Regarding OBD2 readers, does anyone know if the WG is OBD2 Certified? Or EOBD Compliant? There should apparently be a sticker in the engine bay somewhere stating this. I've always thought they were but I got the feedback from BlueDrive and they said they can't guarantee their product will work as they can't guarantee what pre-2007 Australian diesels use for software.

It is definitely NOT OBD2 compliant. This is why you need the special scan tools.
