Default Another thread about 'part time'

hey guys.
ive got an 02 crd sport.....
so i went on a gravel road and put her in 4wheel HI, did some driving, stopped, reversed etc....and put into 2wheel HI, only thing is....my part time light is still on the dash? now when i shift between gears in the transfer case, it still goes from hi to lo, 4wheel to 2wheel drive, and the part time light will disapear when in another option. but when im in 2wheel drive.... the part time light stays on, and flickers on and off. which leads me to believe it could be a sensor issue?

where abouts is the sensor located? and is this an easy fix, or do i need to purchase a new one from somewhere and replace it?

thanks so much guys...starting to panic a little...haha

Theres a switch on the activator lever underneath, up under the car, you could probably check if it has just come loose or broken, and get a replacement 2nd hand from a place like Jeeepart Recyclers.

My dash lights for part time/full time etc did a similar thing with the flashing then gave up completely , no lights at all.

Turned out to be dodgy switch (re cmohr)......not cheap $255 ! couldnt find a secondhand one.

I will try and get a picture where its mounted etc.......mines an auto ....automatically expensive !!!!

I believe the connector from memory to the switch can sometimes get fouled up with dirt etc if it has worked loose and create a dodgy connection , hence the intermittent dash light indication .....you may be in luck and just may be a case of just wiggling it to get any dirt off.

awesome! ok, ive located in on my car, and jiggled it to no ends....but cant get the damn thing off! is there a trick to pushing/pulling part of the connector to unlock it? or is it simply a pull on/off type?

but regardless, very much appreciated for the effort youve gone to, thanks mate

OK here you go

I have tried to indicate where the sensor is hidden. Basically its on top of the transfer case.

Follow the front prop shaft back to the transfer case and it should be accessible immediately to the left of the prop shaft entry point to the transfer case and on top of the transfer case.

The second image actualy shows the sensor. My one still looks pretty new.....only installed just over a month ago

You should be able to get your hand up to the sensors connector. Try pulling it on off a couple of times.
Be carefull not to pull on the wires alone...pull on the actual block connector.

With a bit of luck it may have just fouled up or could have just loosened ......fingers crossed

As I said my KJ is an auto....manual maybe totally different and would have to request one of the forums KJ
