Fitted Rola roof racks and tracks to both rear and freedom panels in the JKU.

Had the racks from my Rodeo and just purchased the tracks and fitting kit for $150. The fitting kit was crap, sourced my own stainless bolts and skimmed the heads down to allow a quick slide fit of racks on and off. Also purchased a few tiedown loops that stay on to enable my tarp to tie to the roof if needed for shade.
Also fitted Narva LED reverse lights to rear bar with both reverse activation and cabin switch activation for tailgaters haha!

No lights

Lights on!

The lights are $69 each from Whitworhs marine, $40 cheaper than fleabay!!
The rear illumination is unbelievable!
Matt

Second the pictures....

I have the rola racks and rails on the rear section of the hard top and have been thinking about installing 1 on the front removable top too.

Cool

Great to see your rack Macca. I have pondered for some time putting them on my 2 hard top. Interested to see how they perform.

Hi Matt. I'd wondered about doing this but was concerned about breaking the hard top. You can manage the weight you put on the racks so as long as you don't overload them then the roof should be able to support the static weight (in theory) but I was more concerned with that weight being effective multiplied as it bangs around off road. The other thing that put me off was the wind force when travelling at speed. If you have something flat on the racks (surf board or something) then the wind will try to pull it off, lifting it from the roof so the forces are then in the opposite direction. In your case that then transfers those forces to your hard through the area covered by the washers under the bolt heads so it's concentrated to a very small area. Just a suggestion but it might be worth getting some sheet metal straps made up to go between the bolts and the hard top. If you put a long strap between the 2 bolts in the picture it'll spread the load a lot further reducing the risk of damage to the hard top.

Did you just bolt these onto the top of the rear bar? A photo would be great as I've been thinking of doing this but just wasn't sure where to put the lights. Was trying to decide between bolting them to the rear bumper or making up some brackets to come of the spare wheel carrier.

I agree I'm very tempted to get some Rola roof racks for my 2dr, so will be interested on your feedback on them.
