For your purposes it is fine. In fact, for the money it is great.

Im merely stating that a 30kg rating is low. Most simple racks for other vehicles carry 50kg plus. It is a compromise of having a plastic lid for a roof. When Offroad most rack manufacturers state to apply a 1.5-2 x load factor (something I would take note of given the plastic substructure supporting the rack). So that leaves you with 15kg to carry - not so useful.

BUT, as I said, its certainly good for what you intend to carry.

AND is a damn side cheaper than what I just dropped on an mbrp rack.

True and as I have always loved the MBRP rack...I have 30-50mm clearance to my roller door in the garage...so I need to be able to fit and remove any rack to park the vehicle.
Unfortunately I cant do that with the MBRP and the Rola is a 30 second install.

I also think the roof can and does take waaaaaay more than 30 kg. This is just a very concervative guestemate on roof loading. Some of the guys on here have fitted rails and load a roof rack on a long cross country tour with no cracking (corregations etc). There is also a manufacturer in the US making flat racks that look like the AEV one but are only attached to rails...he is standing on the rack in the pictures.
Not what I would do personally and dynamic loads have to be taken into account but I still believe the 30 kg is taking into account a dynamic load of about 100kg.

So basically I only have a rail choice unless I park outside or move house...dont get my wife started on that one haha!!

Matt.

Finally got around to adding the pictures from the weekend. Came down with a real pain in the arse chest infection so i was pretty exhausted all week and i couldn't really be bothered getting on the computer just to post up some pics. But im feeling a bit better now so here they are.

Installation overall was pretty straight forward, had to download the instructions off the website as it wasnt provided with it. The frame didnt line up very well and took a bit of persuasion to bolt up but hopefully after a while of being bolted up it will form better to the car ( HAHA wishful thinking!)

Overall quiet happy with the cage, the wind noise is bearable but its not over the top. Now we just need to buy our cage to bolt onto it and were set for camping!
