Default XRC8 Winch

Fitted my new Smittybilt Winch. Replaced what bolts I could with stainless steel and re-wired the elec box and original connections were not very good at all. Other then the above it looks good and works well.

Do the trailmods flare have more clearance than stock (outers on)? Looks that way from the pics but I may be deceived by that tall lift...

On my JK I have 4.56 back space wheels. Sits pretty darn wide. The bushwackers were exactly on the tyre edge. Trailmods are virtually the same...but maybe a fraction less width of coverage by about 10mm. My mud flaps still sit on the tyre edge so from behind it all looks sweet.

I was putting the plastic trim back on in the top windscreen corners after having had the PPm front metal grab handles in for a year or so without putting them back on. While I was Dremelling away on the plastic, the 6yo daughter hopped in the drivers seat & started playing with the wheel... And I started hearing a slight clunk, clunk as she did so...

So I had her keep doing it while I had a look underneath. No obvious movement, but by grabbing the joints while it was moved back & forth, I located it to the tiniest movement between the pitman arm & the drag link. Looks like I might be up for some parts soon...

What will work with standard rims? Or do I have to replace them as well? I currently have 285/70R17s on OEM rims. I really don't want to replace with OEM joint/drag link...

You could just buy a new tie rod end for it. They're quite cheap from the states.

Poly performance drag link fits in standard configuration (I am using it on mine but i do have a Currie tie rod which sits a bit lower, is possible there could be interference with stock tie rod but I doubt it) but uses the OEM ball joint. So if you bought it you'd have the same problem.

Currie comes with two brand new ends. And it also fits in the standard configuration if fitting the currie tie rod at the same time.

Drag link in standard configuration does not affect your rim choice. Is only a problem when you do the drag link flip which relocates it from below to above the knuckle.
