I also suspect the Rubicon may hold it's value a bit better being rarer, then same also with the CRD too unless they release a V8, then again they may stop making Wranglers all together.
It would probably be cheaper to buy a Rubicon, sell the motor then install a turbo-diesel, even if you used a Izuzu 3.9TD or similar.
Having said that, with the great TCS Jeeps have the Sport may well do what 90% of owners want and a rear locker would provide a major kick again.

I went the Petrol Sport as I wanted to do the lockers at my own pace etc. Manual disconnects instead of electronic means less to go wrong in the elec department also.

Rubi's are great but it was not what I was after. The xfer case is the main thing I wanted out of it and still do.

Quadratec has the Rubi D44 front axle with the E locker for $2999.00 us plus frieght
They also need the wiring for the locker and the buttons to activate it at a cost of $110.00 us
Auto Swaybay Disconnect $1369.99
Rubi D44 Rear Axle with E Locker $1849.99

Total = $6328.98
+ Shipping which would likely be at least a Grand if not more based on the weight but say a Grand $7328.98

Exchange Rate 74 cents
Total Aus $9851.11

Plus Fitting and good luck Getting Chrysler US to honour the 12000 mile 12 month warranty as you are in Australia.

And thats without touching the T-Case

When you look at it this way the Rubi seems good value

its bloody good value.

for those that argue the CRD's value for long distance travelling, its MUCH cheaper to just put a long range tank in a rubicon (if you have a 4 door) and take the hit on the extra fuel you'll buy when travelling long distances.

Rubicon at the end of the day is still going to have an underpowered fuel guzzling donk up front.

CRD with exhaust, chip, D Gas. Then AIR lockers, not electric things....

CRD may end up burning a few more $ to bring up to speed, but from then on every time you turn that key and hear that sound.... you'll know you made the right decision

As for warranty arguement. Pffft.... stock Rubicon needs mods anyways if you do real wheeling, so warrantys mostly out the window.
