Default Jeep Diff

A Jeep is a Jeep, and only a Jeep , if it has a diff noise.

And what the hell does a Nissan(SHITBOX) driver(%&*#$@) know about Jeep anyway. HE is just winging because he can't afford a Jeep, more to the point,he is sour because the last time he got stuck, or broke down it was a JEEP which saved his sorry ass. As you no dought can see, i have no time for Nissan's, and pity the people who own them.

P.S. A diff nois can be devided into two catogories:
Crown wheel & pinion nois. This nois is normal, and no dammage is occoring

Bearing nois.Bad nois, fix asap.Yes Nissan diff's fail to.Your diff will be as good as the part's(QUALITY)you put into it, and the person doing the job.

Hey - Jam Jar

With all due respect - put a lid on it.

There are numerous owners of Grand Cherokees here (including myself) that also have or have had Nissan Patrols. We're probably getting tired of ill-informed people having a go at them. They are brilliant at what they do, as are Jeeps. Just because YOU have a Jeep doesn't make them better than all the other brands. I appreciate brand loyalty, but you are going a bit far mate. All brands have their ups and downs, quirks and saving graces. Jeeps are no better than any other brand across the board. They have their weak points too.

My complaint is that there are severe diff problems in my Jeep that are of serious concern to me as I want long-distance touring reliability. So far, it hasn't convinced me that it won't strand me in the middle of the Tanami Desert.

I would, however, trust my Patrol out there as it now has 280,000km on the clock and has never had a problem of ANY sort.

Oh yeah.... and last time I looked, s top of the line Nissan Patrol is as much to buy as a top of the line Jeep. If you think that Nissan drivers can't afford a Jeep, then why are you driving around in an old ZJ? ( no offence meant to other ZJ drivers!!!!! I like the ZJ too.)

Criticising other's machines in such a blatant manner is a really smart thing to do....not

Not many of us on here could afford a Jeep if we had to replace axles or diffs on a regular basis!! In fact I couldn't afford any 4WD if that was the case. I really dont see how you can say Chris is whinging because his low mileage Jeep needs new diffs, I'd have something to say about it too if I was in his situation.

So you have no time for Nissan drivers and pity them.... I have a feeling they probably don't really care.

Cheers
Steve

I think Chris has every right to complain it is a bad situation to have a car with such low km's and both diffs need to be repaired. If it was me i would be pissed

As for the nissan remark Jam jar come down from your high horse I have freinds with nissans that don't need to do the mods we have to do to get a decent off road package maybe you should drive a nissan on & offroad and go from there

Wiggle your foot out of your mouth if you can.

I do ALL the work on my Patrol - and it is as easy as it comes for a competant home mechanic.

Boy, you are really defensive.... which normally comes from inexperience and far too much misguided testosterone.

When you have actually had a Patrol like the GQ... come back and talk then.

I didn't spend close to 60 grand on a fourby to have it screw up within the first six months of ownership. If it can't take normal use, then why the hell are you so convinced that Jeeps are the be-all and end-all?

Sheesh...grow up.

PS. The reason I love my Jeep is for the DIESEL ENGINE (which is built by Mercedes, as is the gearbox). It will outlast the rest of the car by a factor of five in my estimation. I still love it (especially the comfort factor), but am willing to see the negatives too... as you are not. Your statement "It's not a Jeep unless there is a diff whine"..... well.... you just don't know what quality is. What a lame excuse for your defense of the brand.

Are you sure you own a jeep?
Or have you just put a Jeep badge on your GQ? :P
