Default Cape York 2015

G'day All,
I am heading to Cape York next year in the september school holidays. Just wondering if any one else is heading up that way around the same time. Also if any has useful tips for the trip.

Cheers

Default Cape York

I went up this year in my WK2 CRD. It is a good trip these days on the development road. The Telegraph Track can be pretty tricky. I just ran standard tyres with no issues at all. I just let them down a little. Take spare air cleaners, as they get very dirty quickly. Watch out for idiots that dont give themselves enough time and low fly to get there and back. We had a number of close calls with cars losing control around corner. Also they throw rocks over your windscreen.
Hope this helps. Any questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks that does help. I should have my snorkel fitted by the start of the new year. Still I will take a spare air filter. I am allowing myself 14 days from start to the time I get home. That should be plenty of time, I hope.

I am currently planning July August as well, maybe even Late June early July, should still be plenty of water in creeks and road not as corrugated as it gets after many more travelers, wanting to do OTT whilst still plenty of water and challenging, without all vibrations when on the development road. Too busy during school holidays

I'm heading to the Cape (first time) in Sep 2015 (school Holidays).

At this stage our group has 5 Vehicles WH,WJ,95 Series Prado,80 Series L/C & a Colorado
Plan is OTT & Creb track. Looking at leaving the caravan at Port Douglas & then meeting up with the group at Bramwell Junction on the 19th/20th, 4/5 days to the tip, 2 nights there then development road back down. Actual trip planning has only just started, I have subscribed to this site http://www.cape-york-australia.com/c...rk-travel.html & will buy Destination Cape York Travel Guide off them soon.
Have booked 4 weeks off work for this one
