I had a look at my tow bar last night. See pic.

Certainly looks like the one in the recall, but unfortunately I don’t have the hitch Tongue which is where the model number is by the look of it. Will get hold of it on the weekend to confirm but from the evidence so far it appears to be a recalled towbar... which makes me wonder why it hasn’t been recalled for my vehicle...

Yep agree with Snakedoctor, that’s the recalled one in my opinion too. Annoyingly the older unit is a better arrangement, it is almost impossible to get a decent shackle through the eyes on the new one. The old one with the flat eyes was easier to work with and had more room.

Well, recall Mopar bar removed, new Trailboss bar fitted and just received reimbursement from FCA into bank account. All good. Got $1000 back for bar only (wiring loom and plug retained on car); aftermarket bar $648 fitted, which leaves $352 for the stuffing around. I’m happy with that.

Mopar towbar removed at Northern Jeep in Bundoora today.

Hayman Reece Bar fitted by AVA at Northern Jeep today.

FCA refunded $1600 in my account today.

AVA HR cost $900 fitted.

Northern Jeep washed my car for me, supplied loan car etc.

FCA have given me letter for free 20,000km or 12 month service.

So while regrettable I am happy with result.

That's great news Chuck2.

Is there much difference in the size / fit of the HR bar compared to the mopar bar? Does the HR bar fill the holes cut into the rear bumper?

I'm tossing up whether to change my mopar bar for a HR bar. I've got a few 4wd trips next month - I'm not towing but expect I'll have to snatch a few friend's bogged landcruisers out.
I'd planned to use my recovery hitch for this but given the recall I assume this would not be safe.
My '18 overland came with a recovery hook at the rear - apologies as I am not mechanically minded but does anyone know if this is attached to the towbar or would it be ok to use?

Thanks!
