Default Camping on Moreton Island

Hey guys, we are thinking of spending christmas ( 7-10 days) over on Moreton Island and need some advice in regards to camping. We'll be towing a Jayco Outback so will this limit where we can camp?

We"ll be carrying our own water and have a portable toilet so we will be some what self sufficient.

Since this will be my first time over there, I'm hoping a few of you guys who've been there can give me the low down on a good spot to book. And anything you think would make for a more prepared trip.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Rod

Ben Ewa is the go but strongly suggest you take EVERYTHING you might need. Price of ANYTHING over there is insane expensive. I watched a group of guys buy a case of Corona beers that were about $50 on the mainland and got charged $145 on the island.. and it wasn't Christmas time.

Also suggest stay away from Tangalooma. very run down. Totally over priced but there is an all purpose shop the southern side of the resort that is as expensive as the other. Still exxy but not as bad as the others... There is also a real nice little pub down Kooringal. Worth a drive one day!

Enjoy, it's a really lovely place with some fantastic beach driving!

Thanks guys!! Just got off the phone from another forum member and he echoed what you've suggested. I'm glad I asked as didn't expect the calm side to be the pick. Going to be hectic at Chrissy, but them's are the breaks...
Looking forward to it already.....
Cheers gents

we get to Morton every chance we can (4 times so far this year), we camp up past Bulwer shops (Combyro point on the western side, not how its spelt but close enough) there's toilets, cold showers & taps to collect shower water. we take all of our drinking water & get our shower water from there. the sand is super soft at the moment as they havnt had rain in months. cars without trailers are getting bogged every where on the inland tracks,we were bogged to the sills a few weeks ago at the Cowan Cowan bypass, but my camper is a tandem wheel 6.5 mtr long big bugga that even has a jet ski on it, but we winched our selves out quickly. if it stays this soft at xmas id recommend the first camp near the barge, good central location & not far from the shipwrecks for some cool snorkeling & only a short drive down to Tangalooma to watch the free dolphin feeding (free unless you want to participate). we will be over there hopefully camped at the point from 14/12 to 30/12 If you see the TJM JK drop over for a cold beer "n" a chat.
cheers Piggy.

Cars with trailers will get bogged, no question. Sand is VERY VERY soft and even very capable cars are finding it hard going. Take tents/swags and leave the Jayco at home
