Yeah I certainly can't see the value in the kit...You'd be lucky if there was $400 in parts if you bought it all new! Bloody good profit margin!

Glad you worked it out though.
Well it took longer than I expected to get to pulling the plug apart, but I did it today.

If you look down into the plug you'll see a plastic piece that is clearly different than the rest.

Then you can use something small and flat to pull the tab that comes up. The actual tool looks like a really flat screw driver.

Next, you take a different tool that is small and pointy. You could use a scribe if you find one that's small enough. Press it into the socket to try and release the lock. This is the hardest part as you have to feel out where the lock is. In the case of the VM #1 injector on the vehicle side it's under the socket. Some are on the top, some on the side. Leave the sharp tool in the connector and push the socket out with the flat tool.

Now do the same to the other side. It takes about a minute. I pulled these out myself and I've never done it before.

That's how you pull the plug apart. Here's a pic of the tools in action.

It's with a heavy heart that the XJ had to do some heavy lifting today. My best friend had to be put down.

This is the last picture of him.
