The original ford fuel pump isn`t up to the job on a barra tubo as with the injectors (the same ones as stock 6). Ford had to detune the barra motor as it was more powerful than the 8 . there is a place in aus selling 3grand kits for the bara turbo (injectors , exaust , intake ,fuel pump , ) to give over 600hp they garantee a ba to do a 12s quarter . So for money the barra motor is far supirior to alot of motors even the gen v8`s lets see anyone get 12`s out of a commodore for $3g. http://www.autotechengineering.com.a...rbo_Phase3.htm
I would be looking at the possibilaty of using the ford auto and conecting to transfer case if that would be possible.

Here's a thought... put an Xr6 turbo into a Grand Cherokee limited!!

I know it's got nothing to do with this thread.... just gave me an idea, and I'm sick of my engine woes...

Unfortunately not; this was something I thought long and hard about, and never thought of a convincing reason not to do it, but I never had the funds to start collecting bits and pieces. It's something that I'll definitely do some time in the future - given that the 6 cylinder is finally about to meet its end after the FG, now would be the perfect time to put it to good use.

Engineering a trans adapter is the toughest bit. You'll prob be up for 3-5k getting Mal Wood or someone to make one up new.

After that its smooth(ish) sailing, you can put in an AU motor for under $500, a turbo conversion inc ecu reflash is about $2k all up for 220rwkw and awesome torque.

Alternatively you could use some other suitable 4wd gearbox and run custom driveshafts, and/or a BA/BF DOHC 4.0 litre motor which already has factory provisions for turbo gear, bit more expensy though.

Would happily sell my JK and do a similar build if a trans adapter was out there, Americans def know V8s but are absolutely shithouse in designing other engine configurations.
