Good hour run down and back today, most of it on the north/south motorway, temps just under half, economy is back, sat at 8 lph for the trip, not bad I think with a bit of that normal city driving.

Can confirm tge engine cover raised tge coolant a few degrees...2-5C on avaerage...but still only 65-67C....or just between the C n the first larger dash on the gauge as Grippy said....it definitely 'deadened' all engine noise excepting that lovely turbo whine when powering on....fuel eco gauge hasnt been reset sine tge Melbourne trip so includes 'putting' around town and this 400klm run....reads 9.2lt/100....not bad considering the gale force side wind and driving rain on the trip down....all good.....for now

Sounds like you fellas have the thermostats stuck open, my engine on the coldest day might get down to 85 with coolant similar but everything around the 90-95 on mine cruising without load ....... since I have gone to 10W40 I find my fuel burn has climbed a little bit and staying in the nine's.

Must've had a colder thermostat in there since I bought it, car was originally from the NT apparently, maybe that's why, def runs warmer and smoother now though

The odd thing with mine is the coolant temp has always...since my purchase....been very cool except when towing or doing beach work....it works because when a forced regen was done...so 3000RPM(or over...I didnt take note of where it was sitting) static (standing still) the temp got to 97C then dropped back to 92C....obviously the thermostat was opening and closing...if it was stuck open...there would have been no drop off when it hit 97C....it just would have kept climbing because it was already stuck open...anywayz....another job to the list....I know that cool temps were awesome with older cast iron blocks and that alloy blocks and/or efi aspirated engines require a temp of over 80C to achieve efficiency and not run with 'choke' on.....doesnt blow black smoke or chew juice so its not a workshop must do thing atm.....and yep drover...since upgrading to the 40w oil...and I addedd a li'l Moreys....the fuel burn is a bit higher then running the 30w....Grippys 8lt/100 has me pondering ???.....hmmmm....
