Was that in response to public pressure about the quality of the old one? I'd be interested to know if Jeep has installed the newer camera for anybody who was unhappy with the old one.

If that's the case, I'll be on the phone to them!

Taprod, my online Petition certainly would have helped in bringing on the new camera update for the MY14 Laredo's.

One motoring writer I canvassed to pressure Jeep responded with Jeeps attitude;

We are currently investigating the claims outlined in the petition.
It is our policy to not conduct negotiations or discussions with our customers in a public forum.
If customers have any concerns regarding their vehicle, we encourage them to contact their local dealer.

The dealers can do nothing without jeep sayso. What a load of crap and buckpassing that was!!!

Dont think that they will be retrofitting thousands of MY14's. Only way is for the individual owners to buck up and whinge to them like I have as well as several other owners.

Taprod in case you havent seen my Petition, here it is and thanks again to all who have contributed to it;

The upgraded camera has actually been in the works for the WK's since the 2014s were released , as they were never happy with the graft in kit that was put together hear in Australia and distributed globally hence the wait for everyone to have them installed as the supplier couldn't keep up with demand , the new camera is matched to the screen resolution giving a much clearer picture which has a lot more depth , & I think you can screem and jump all you want if you want the new camera to replace the older kit one you will have to pay for it or have it installed when you purchace the WK or KL , you might be able to get a discount on cost of unit and fitting but that will be up to the dealer unless told otherwise by Jeep .

Mine is due to be exchanged in Aug. not really expecting too much difference, from the reports I have seen it is still heavily fisheye and no guidance lines, I hope I am wrong.
My $250 gps has guidance lines that can be moved all over the screen to suit any vehicle (Garmin dezl 760) but not my $60,000 car

Default MY14 Laredo Camera

Ozjeepster,
Some movement on this issue now. I know of two NSW owners that their dealers have offered the camera/applique update kit for.

My dealer has offered me an Ltd/Overland camera as a replacement (at their own cost of course) but he had to find out if the Laredo Uconnect was compatible with the Ltd/Overland camera or not.

OzJ, do you know if thats the case or not?

Thanks

Bluey

The camera system has nothing to do with the uconnect what so ever , weather you have the 8inch touch screen or the smaller touch screen the new camera system wires into all varients the exact same way , if your wk is white it will be an easier install if its not the tech is going to separate your trim skin and the skin from the new camera panel and swap them as they all come in white lol
