Now, its just a case of isolating the problem. Plug something like a car fridge into the ciggy lighter to see if its not just the drain on power from the lights that fixes the stutter. Like the other guys said, try a battery swap. You are almost there! Pop into an auto electrician and explain the problem.. maybe they can fix it quickly and cheaply, or tell you on the spot what it could be. Or, just drive with your lights on and enjoy the stutter free ride
LOL yeah I mentioned it to my bruv today, told him whats been going on with the Heep, and as much as he is still somewhat sceptical seeing this gremlin has been very hard to fix, I did tell him that at least I am now have a way to stop the miss, and my bruv said the same, worst thing I will be driving with my headlights one like all them Volvo drivers LOL.

But I do want to solve it, and yes a sparky is still on the cards, but battery swap and removal of that non OEM headlight wiring loom is the first things I will have a go at, fuel pressure gauge test (although its not the problem) and that ODB2 gadget will be also done this week.

Yeah I have thrown lost of new parts at the Heep, and its been a real downer as it has stopped me from going bush fishing/hunting, but all the parts are worth it, and bugging the hell out of all you lot on here with my daily updates must have been good for something LOL.

But I do think it will be solved soon, and I will insure I will reveal the problem, just incase some one else has the same issues.

You mentioned while using the wipers, the gremlin wasn't there...

Perhaps try using the wipers, instead of the headlights, next time, just to see, as it will isolate the circuit.
OK, went for a drive, took about 15 k's and the gremlin started again, seeing it was drizzling I turned the wipers on full, gremlin did not stop, turned the wipers off and tried the lights again, and the gremlin stopped, I did this about 3 times just to confirm the wipers had nothing to do with it. A member on here mentioned that the light switch on XJ can play up, anything I should test/check when I pull it out? Cheers.

Well, that isolated that, then!!!!

Definitely something happening on the light circuit...
I dunno what you could check, but when I had to replace the switch on the ol' blue XJ, it was because it was causing a 5 amp fuse under the dash, to continually blow...

Sometimes I wonder if the bloke who wired these XJs was related to "LUCAS", Prince of Darkness.

I dont even know how its configured for current draw with relays etc, but have autopsy a couple (not jeep) the internals are fried/melted

noticed mine makes a distinct "sizzle" when the 45sec delay switches off, dont know why..is that normal?

One more thing for interest...a dud alternator diode can cause weird problems, but be difficult to diagnose

here is an example, same guy has many helpful youtubes
(note remarks on this vid to the guy with auto 2-1 kickdown probs!)
