Default Air Conditioning RIP

I put this report up on the US forum but I think it may have more revelence here. My wife was driving home yesterday (MY15 Diesel Limited) on the hottest day of the year to date, 42 and noticed that the AC decided to stop working. When she pulled up to pick me up from work there was a dreadful clutch lining burning smell coming from under the bonnet. I lifted the bonnet and asked the wife to switch the AC back on and sure enough the compressor pulley remained stationary ie no AC compressor engagement. I suspect that the compressor clutch has burnt out for whatever reason? I have booked the car into Woodleys Jeep in Tamworth (after Xmas)to have them ascertain what has gone wrong. I am hoping this is covered under warranty and more importantly I hope that the replacement parts are held in stock here in Australia.

Sounds like your compressor has seized or at least the compressor clutch bearing. I would take it to a reputable ac shop in Toowoomba and get a second opinion before you take it to the Jeep dealer. May save you hundreds of dollars. Supercool in Southport are large stockists of ac parts and do many Jeeps. You may be still covered by the Jeep warranty if so good luck. However once they have the vehicle in their workshop they will want to repair it.!!

Timely advice bjm. I will see what Woodleys Jeep have to say on Wednesday. If its not covered under warranty then it definitely won't go to jeep for repairs.
