Build year or model year? - this constantly causes confusion.

MY14's were commenced later in 2013. My car is a MY13 built in Dec 2012 and sold new in 2013. Unless I'm very mistaken MY11, MY12 & MY13 are all the same spec. So by saying '2013 on', are Coopers actually referring to early MY14 built from late 2013 on?

Model year is pretty much irrelevant for most purposes, got me stuffed why it is even used TBH. When it comes to parts, always go by build year.

Found my pictures of Mopar and Ryco replacement in old thread. It is the superseded Mopar part number. I now do vaguely remember the updated Mopar was related to the Dodge RAM difference and the updated number was to cover both. Were any Eco-diesel RAM's sold in Aus ?

Thanks Mate, looks like Ryco have stayed with the original Mopar style.
If their was a claim due to low oil pressure I wonder how Ryco would try and wriggle out of it. And of course FCA would simply say "sorry" not our filter

I see it the other way around, since the MY identifies any spec changes.
E.G. both the 5sp CRD and the 8sp CRD were built in 2013, so the MY is important when looking a 2013 build. Bit like buying next year's calendar this year, the next MY is usually released later in the previous year.
