It will be a broken manifold stud, common Hemi problem.

Yeah that tends to be the case

Well today did some work on it, nothing too exciting but had a few rumblings from the front of the car and suspected that it was bearings but not certain they were the cause but they werent terrible when I pulled them out. While I was in there I added new discs and new pads and did a fluid flush, both the pads and discs were in a pretty good state but they did have a lip on them so just got a RDA pack with both discs and pads for $190 delivered.

Well some more updates!!!!

Got my Superchips working (old version) and applied the lowest octane tune and adjusted tyre size and the car is much better at changing into 5th and locking the torque converter than it was prior to that change. I am assuming that the speedo being out was causing this behavior. I also spent a bit of time cruising around some dirt tracks (mild 4wding) and didnt get any ESP intervention so it appears to help correct that too.

Today I pulled my bash plates off and had a good look around under it to continue the search for my bearing issue and had a look at the usual culprits but nothing immediate came to light (other than damn its taken some good hits down there). I'm planning on removing the front driveshaft to see if I can find something there that is causing this.

Forgot to add while I was under the car I also had a chance to look at the front of the engine and looks like I've got a coolant leak! Suspecting a waterpump but not sure yet.

Turns out my leak wasnt the pump but the thermostat housing which was a good excuse to put a new one in! I went with a slightly cooler thermostat (190F) after reading some folks recommending this on the early Hemi's to try and avoid valve retainer issues.

I cleaned up the seat that the thermostat sits in (water pump side) and it was all 100% intact just ran a file gently around it to remove any old rubber / sealant. Finished product of the outlet is pictured below (sanded it with some 240 grit), I got a paper gasket (Dayco DTG9) that was the right size and put a small amount of RTV only on the outlet side to fill the pitting and she is all sealed up and no more drips on the floor!

Well put some big kilometers under it during the last week of October and headed out in the Victorian deserts (North western Victoria) and did some exploring. It performed flawlessly other than me destroying its passenger mirror which is now disconnected and cabletied. I'm now thinking about how I get some better ride out of it as I did find even on the sand it was a little rough and the front suspension is my first suspect.
Ride investigations

Now my fuel economy has been something I've been tracking mostly out of interest rather than trying to chase every last KM out of a tank (I could have bought a CRD if that was my focus). During the trip I did a change of tunes on the car with my Superchips and found that the 91 tune with me filling up with 95 or above is getting me much better economy. I did the trip between Melb and Syd (went via Barry Way along the Snowy river) and managed to average 13.49L/100KM during that drive which is a big improvement on the rest of the trip which averaged 16.9L. I'll continue to use the 95 octane or above with it for a month or two to see if this trend continues.

The other key thing I changed was I refitted my front apron(black strip of rubber/plastic) to the car which in theory might have given me ever so slightly better wind resistance.

The airdam is also good for increasing negative air pressure behind the radiator which improves cooling.
