Airbag light

Chasing an airbag light issue in my sons XJ,have replaced the clock spring,checked the connections and the module under the console,checked he plug to the pass airbag,is there any other simple checks before we hand it over to an auto elec.??

It needs a scan from a code reader that has airbag system capability. You could pay for that at a workshop then replace yourself the problem part.

We had it scanned, its an airbag circuit apparently, not airbags or module,so I guess its in the wiring loom somewhere.

You could do what I did, put a piece of black tape over the light and forget about it. Worked a treat.

Check the recalls there have been a lot of airbag recalls for various jeep models over the recent years and at least one I'm aware of have been wiring loom related.

I have chased a few airbag problems on jeeps before and most were caused by poor connections at the connector at the top of the steering column from the cars airbag loom to the clock spring socket.

Make sure you disconnect the battery for about 5mins before fiddling with airbag circuits and wires.

Thanks mate, Nic put a new clock spring in, but it won't hurt to check the wiring again.

replaced module,light has been off for a couple of days,fingers crossed thats it.
