Default WG Body Control Modules interchangeable?

Well it looks like the Body Control Module has been fingered by my auto-electrician as faulty and in need of replacement. The only problem is there are supposedly none in Australia (I guess I shouldn't be surprised at that) and they are approx $1500 through Chrysler

So I have the parts manual for my 2003 CRD WG and it claims the part is 05083892AD (MODULE, body controller). Does anyone know if BCM's are interchangeable through the WG model at least (I know they are flashable so I assume they are). I can't find the exact part by number for sale but there are a few floating around second hand and reconditioned that claim 2002-2004 compatability but with part numbers like 5083892AH (from a 4.0) and 56050231AG (unknown to me).

Anyone parting a WG CRD at the moment who has the BCM intact?

The BCM is the unit in the drivers door so what actually was the problem in the first place ????
Why I'm asking is that the module is quite often declared stuffed when its actually a broken wire in the door or socket, and I believe there isn't any difference between models but I'm not 100% on that.

BCMs also contain the security system & they are locked to a specific PCM within a few kays off being fitted. So no , cant use 2nd hand BCM unless you get matching PCM with it, ie from same car.
Try www.rockauto.com, they might have new one.

My problem relates to the vehicle immobiliser being armed now permanently with other symptoms being the driver door lock is no longer actuated by the key fob or door control panel (all other doors are actuated ok). I started a thread documenting my immobiliser woes here Help WG immobiliser issues which you kindly responded to as well.

You are quite right in commenting that the BCM is often fingered as faulty even though door pillar wiring has broken or is almost broken and short circuiting. Unfortunately in my vehicle there is no broken or shorted wiring and it looks like the BCM really is stuffed (this is the opinion of the auto electrician who has been diagnosing the problem).

Yeah I tried Rockauto first and didn't find a BCM available at all, only a very reasonably priced ECM... sigh. I've already decided to purchase the new module as I'm due on Fraser Island soon and it's all getting too tight to mess around

According to the auto electrician WJ/WG BCM's can actually be re-associated with other modules but it takes some effort to flash and then recode them specifically for your vehicle via a DRBiii. I don't know whether to believe this or not as I was under the same impression as turbomart. At any rate the revised price is $1000 for the new BCM and I'm out of time so in it goes.

Never could track down my specific replacement part 05083892AD used anywhere but I believe the last two letters refer to the software revision while the numerals are the part number.

Thanks for the responses guys!

Not 100% sure but I think I've seen too many variations in the US to be region codes alone.

The last two letters are to let you know if the part has been superseded. Part numbers that have AB means that they have superseded a previous part that originally ended with AA.
