XJ running badly.

Id say its the oxy sensor upstream on the manifold my 96 did same stalls as well $50 change it

There are 2, I just climbed under it, there is the one that is just in front of the cat, I unplugged that one, and started it up, no difference, still wants to stall. I checked and there is a second one just past where the headers go into one. I will have to try unplugging it in the morning, its way to cold and my back is killing me.

But thanks guys as it is something I had not even thought about or looked at.

But whats got me stumped is when I changed out the crank sensor it went downhill even further real fast, hence I am going to put the old one back to see what it runs like than. BUt I will do some reading about the 2 oxygen sensors as well, I have ordered lots of replacement parts, and might as well add 2 oxygen sensors to the shopping list, fun never stops hey.

Just had a look at Evilbay and both the pre and post oxy sensor go for $39.99 each including shipping, not to bad.

Have you tried putting that fuse back in? In my '98 the underhood lamp fuse also controls the tranny module, but it could be something completely different in a '96.

Yeah tried that several times, but made no diff, car still runs like a lemon, I think the fuse is only a 20amp.

Doing some more ready on line about 02 sensors going bad, and it looks like it might be the problem, as I have found several stories where the problem starts out with the odd mis here and there when the car is cold, but than gets worse over time from weeks to months. My XJ started with a miss a few weeks ago, but as soon as I got up the road somewhat, it stopped as I got the temp up, although now it is at a point it stalls several times just trying to park the XJ.
