Default Do all XJ Diesels come with 4.10 diffs ?

I have heard that all Oz delivered XJ Diesels came delivered with 4.10 diffs
Is that true?

therefore if I want a 4.10 Front diff, it might be easier to a whole front from
a wrecker

if not, does the D30 diff CARRIER need changing from 3.55 to 4.10 ?

I already have 3.55 and 4.10 rear

thx in advance

Apparently they’re all 3.73 ratio. 4.10 might be a US spec such as 4 cyl petrol.
There is a carrier break for the D30, 3.55 down and 3.73 up.

Parts lists (at least for 97-99 which is what I looked at) confirm diesels are 3.73:1.
The 4.10:1 doesn't have an engine/gearbox designation in the parts list but they were used in the 2.5L petrol models which need to use the revs more. The 2.5L petrol was available in RHD, and I know they were available in the UK though I don't know if you got them over there at all.

The first year here was 94 for the XJ. I have seen a couple of private imports around for earlier years, but super rare, such as a 2 door LHD manual in WA and possibly a Comanche at a Jeep shop in Melbourne... so I wouldn’t hold your breath.
