Default What does my radar sensor want from me???

G'day everyone. A few weeks back I got the clean radar sensor warning. No biggie, just put up with it till Saturday and paid particular attention to it when I washed my car. But the warning didn't go away. Tried gently buffing it with a microfiber cloth, still nothing.

I've read that if you get multiple warnings on a single trip (I do) your sensor may need realignment. I intermittently get the "clean radar sensor" warning, and then the "ACC and FCW are off" warning.

Has anyone experienced this? Anyone know if there are things I can try myself? And does anyone know how financially painful a radar realignment typically is? Also, if I choose to ignore it, will I fail roadworthy in NSW?

Cheers.

Nice! I did do a search, btw, but I guess mine was a bit heavy on the radar and not on the ACC/FCW. Love how the final post in the thread is "I'll report back how it went".

Getting a bit late in the evening for me but I'll have a good read of the other thread later on, but that plastic clip thing seems like it could definitely be the cuplrit as I do 4 creek crossings a day to and from work!

Cheers for the help!

Suss it out mate, those crossings with all that water might have thrown it out of alignment

Rang bells , as a mate had same problem with broken plastic clips on his years back, he made his own mount for it and I recall him cracking it big time later when his Ranger did the same thing, he made a new mount out of perspex and plastic, seems Ford tried the same thing as Jeep............

Yep, lost the top left one. There's a fair range of motion in it now, but it seems to stay where I push it to, we'll see how much she complains next time I start her up. Didn't pull anything apart for a good look or to plan a fix, I'm a little bit time poor between now and October, so maybe I'll just order the parts from the states and wait it out, or give the guys at all GC a ring. Did a bit of searching but couldn't find the part anywhere in Oz online.

I had a fair amount of problems with mine when I fit the ORA bar.
In the end, I used a tube (pvc pipe) that fit around the radar bulb but sat flush on the flat part behind it, then leveled it with a spirit level and with the tube I could see if it was cock eyed off to one side, has been golden since.
