You can "put" a HEMI in a Jeep. There's been a lot of HEMI V8 swaps into the new Jeep JK Wrangler, particularly in the US, and now there is a following in Australia. I'm possibly doing one myself.

As far as a Jeep having a HEMI in it stock, I don't think so.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee comes with 2 V8 versions the smaller 4.7 Mercades motor and the Hemi motor. So yes you can get a Jeep with a Hemi.

4.7L engine used in Grand Cherokees was not a Mercedes engine, its a PowerTech engine (remember PowerTech also did I6 4.0L). Merecedes engine was the 3.0L diesel engine in Grands (different story). Here is a bit of write up on 4.7L engines: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chrysler_PowerTech_engine

As for a Hemi, Wranglers don't have Hemi engiines from the factory. You can buy a 5.7L Hemi Grand Cherokee from factory though. See this link for Jeep Australia: http://www.jeep.com.au/grand_cheroke...ity/index.html

I think there was (or is) a 6.1L Hemi as well, but that might now be superceded.

So yes you can buy a Hemi powered "Jeep" from the factory, but no you cannot buy a Hemi powered "Wrangler" fromt he factory.

Hope this helps.

are you meaning that the 4.0 is a hemi? I know a lot of people confuse the jeep (amc) engines with the chrysler australia engines like the 245 and 265 hemis found in valiants. They look almost identical, but are not the same. The term hemi refers to the hemisherical combustion chamber design used in these engines. So, no a jeep 4.0 is not a hemi engine. But as others have said, there are hemi options available in the V8

In America there are a few companies that fit Hemi to Jk and do have the backing Of Jeep with Warranty. (easy found on Net)
