Default 96000 Maintenance

My 2015 trailhawk has 65k on the clock, I decided to look at servicing requirements at 5 years or 96000k. I am slightly confused, The service book states replace auto transmission oil, however operating manual states lifetime oil, also states change PTU oil (I cannot find any reference to this). Replace rear diff oil, Replace timing belt,(timing is chain driven), Replace coolant, replace accessory drive belt,(I will do this anyway). What are Forum members thoughts on all of this?.

Unsure if KL's have 4WD so transfercases but here goes...Service over and above the recommended service schedule and you will benefit in the long run...NO such thing as 'lifetime' oil in trans...timing chains, although much more durable than timing belts, still stretch with age/wear/use...cost of a timing belt/chain failure is far more than prohibitive...change it...BOTH diff oils should be changed around the 30-40k cycle mark (depending on your use of the vehicle ie: towing, heavy 4WDing, city or highway use)...coolant is good for around 100k(depending on what type of coolant being used) but some draw that out to more than that....PTU is Power Take off Unit...unless your running one it doesnt apply..if you are...service it....
Most service engine oils, oil filter n fuel filters around the 10k mark cycle...some more some less...air filter 20k(again depending on conditions and vehicle use)...diffs and transfercase 30-40k...coolant 100k...tranny oil 40-60k depending upon use...that is a VERY rough guide....useage, climate, odometer, how its driven all play a big part...DONT use the handbook as a GOOD guide...it ISNT...it is under servicing so as to sell more cars 'promising' cheaper running costs...loads of threads on here re: servicing..
Just remember...its a machine...it WILL breakdown...preventative maintenance is exact what it says...preventative maintenance....
Probably didnt answer your question but have given you a 'guideline'.
GOOD LUCK !

Hi
My 06 trail hawk has just clocked over 240,000kms as far as I know the trans and diffs has never been touched, but I do the engine oils at 15kms.
recently had the trans recalibrated and 1 injector changed due to it giving issues over 4k revs once I found someone that knew what they were doing( 2 hrs each way) am planning a trip that way for them to do the oils unless I find a replacement vehicle first.

If your vehicle has done 240k without having the tranny n diff oils changed...save yourself the 2hr drive...find a caryard closer to home and ditch it before it shytes itself....would you wear the same underpants without washing them for 17yrs ???....bit 'jammy' on the inside

The 'trans does not get touched' comment by the dealer would see me never having anything to do with them again...absolute lie...NO brand/make of any trans is biult for life...unless life is less than 100k....the trans cant be 'looked at' by a laptop...some one's telling you lies....but....your talking about selling it and thats a good idea if the upkeep has been what you posted....nothing will run forever without maintenence....forget the advertising...its lies....no matter what brand.....
$300 to hook up to a laptop is bloody steep !....I also live remote but use the RAA Depot if a reader is needed....charges me between $20- $60 depending on how much of his time I take...a reader can only do so much...its only giving out the 'electrickery' readings...nothing else

As a reference point....my car was bought 2nd hand....tranny hadnt been serviced for 150k....I got it serviced as a holiday towing a van was planned....tranny shop told me...'It will play up/fail because it wasnt serviced before now'....sure enough 1,500klm later it failed....replacement quotes are around 8k....if I didnt get it serviced it would failed at some stage...epically....roadside stuck job with van hooked on...when ???.....unknown....I had it serviced and it died...BUT....I could do a 'quick fix' and its still going n towing 7,000klm later....is it ok ???.....NOPE.....BUT....until I have 8k 'spare' its a going concern and is 'useable' if driven accordingly.....you can bet your bottom dollar that when its replaced I will be doing 40k services....is that too much/short an interval ????....YEP.....but I aint forking out another 8k for the sake of a couple hundred dollar service.....
IF you drop the tranny n diff oils in yours the biuld up inside the casings will be 'slightly' cleaned off by the detergents in the new oil...this 'tarnish'/burnt oil/solidified coating will then become 'solid particles' in the oil that is travelling through EVERYTHING....bearings, moving parts, minimal clearance areas, breathers, seals...end result is a failure somewhere inside the box or diff......servicing is a cheap way to get the best/longest out of any mechanical device.
