Default Pontiac Fiero GT

Got a chance to buy a 1985 Pontiac Fiero GT for $1,000.

Kind of looking at them, researching them, reading pros and cons, etc, about them.

Did you guys ever get these down there? I know that the Pontiac G8 GT is pretty much the Holden Commodore re-badged. Wasn't sure if Pontiacs were common down there or what.

These fieros seem to be pretty rare, and i like the look of them. Kind of reminds me of a little ferrari. Same GM 2.8 V6 that went into the cherokees (ugh, i know.) but for the size of these and the fact that it's a 4-speed i'd imagine it'd be pretty fun to beat around in. Sure i could find a V8 to cram into it as well.

Here's the car i have the chance to buy for those who have no idea what the hell a Fiero is.

Don't think we ever saw that down here. We don't get alot of US stuff cause they simply won't built them in RHD.

I like work, it fascinates me. I sit and stare at it for hours.

Used to see them about, always liked the look of them, came close to buying one years ago but bought a fourby instead, I haven't seen one for a few years now, looks like a good buy, make a great run around

The mini Trans-am.
I nearly bought one in the early 90's - got a Cordia Turbo instead (LOL)

Didn't know they were ever sold here. I used to get Kit Car magazine and the Fiero was a prime donor chassis for a heap of US kits.
All panels bolt off very easily from memory.

That's because 95% of the body was plastic. That was their big claim to fame . The company that developed the polymer for the body's used to take a car around to Aussie manufacturers (when we had them) to show how good it was. Was lucky enough to be at lawn mower factory while one was there.

I remember when those came out in Canada. They had a reputation of being pretty unreliable. Where I came from you were cool if you DIDN'T have a Fiero. And they were a nightmare driving in the winter.
