Default Diesel XJ info wanted

Hi all you XJ lovers out there.

I'm thinking of buying a diesel XJ and wanted some info. I want the vehicle as a tourer/tow vehicle.

What ratio diffs does the TD XJ have? Would it tow a car tailer and still get 10-11litres / 100km? Does anyone use one as a tow vehicle? I know I may need to upgrade the rear brakes.

Is the diesel engine reliable?

Regards
Arron

Hey mate. I have used mine to tow a mates boat (big cairns cat), a camper trailer and various nissans ) and found it loved to tow, specially in the sand.

Unsure of the ratios as I am at work but I have found my engine very reliable and have had no problems with it what so ever. Depends on what you are towing for fuel economy etc. Mine is pretty good with the stock tyres on and can still get the 10-11litres / 100km with the muddies on.

I am thinking of selling mine as I need to downgrade and buy something cheaper to get the missus off my back but can't bring myself to do it !!

Thanks Chris, Sounds like it should do the job for me. PM me if you do want to sell, it may be worth a look!

Thanks Kyro, How does yours go towing that camper trailer? Ecomony and power wise?

No Probs Texan. I think I followed you home from Fraser earlier this year around Australia Day.

I towed a dirty big off road camper from Noosa up to Rainbow and the TD loved it.
