Default Any Navy current or ex on here? seeking advice.
Young fellas looking to join this year. i,m ex Army so dont know about Navy enlistment procedure. I dont want him stuck in a crummy job. Any advice?
He wants to do something high speed low drag, IE aviation crew chief rotary or diving.

Ex Navy and ex Raafie, tell him to go Air Force better in the long run or Aviation Regiment, pussers is 90% Boredom and I did 12 in it.

I am an ex Army electrician. We go our sparky ticket, fridgey ticket, auto electrical ticket and Cert IV in remote power systems (Diesel Generators etc upto 600kVA)
All in 4 years....6 years ROSO but I did 8. one of the best pays in the Army too, though its still crap compared to the real world. I was on approx $50k 10 years ago in the Army, but worked many weekends (no overtime, its a salary)
Now using the same certificates and skills in the mining industry earning 4 x that.

Currently serving and after 11 years in still loving it. Good pay good life style and good fun. Not to mention that I tend to move all around the country so I get to explore all the best 4WD spots OZ has to offer. Currently serving on the Young Endeavour our sail training ship working up and down the East coast, we go north for winter and south for summer.

My whole package not including free medical and dental is $150,000 a year. That's on full sea going allowance however.
