In fact i am so glad I had fitted the fuel filter skid plate before I did the Cape. The time I got hung up the filter skid plate saved me I reckon...the rock ledge I was hung up on did a bit of damage underneath around the filter area.

Oh Farwest...just thought I'd mention it...I changed the fuel filters on mine the other day, and that screw to release pressure and to drain fuel I could not undo...like the issue you had.
I do not over tighten stuff and this is the first time in who knows how many filter changes where this has occurred. I didn't wreck the screw and will get to it shortly to get out.
I just changed the filters by unscrewing them until they leaked the fuel out before replacing them.

After 'cursing myself' on another thread I took Gina for an 'old skool Maintenance run'...had topped up the header tank with distilled water a few days ago (about 200ml from purchase...round 40k ago) but that was still a wee bit over the full mark when cold so expect 'some blow off' and it hadnt been out of town for a few weeks...or a month or so...cant remember...
Results:
Goes like a train....all temps were as they have always been....even turned the heater on (dont think its ever been used since I bought it) to check the valves an radiator core are sealed n working....turned on the a/c to 'lube' the seals....'drove it likes its stolen'...(read: old skool maintenance run)...nothing to look at except it will need some more Loctite 401 on that vibrating windscreen rubber (but absolutely positive I wont be doing the speeds needed to generate the vibration whilst towing the van)....no leaks, smells, vibrations, noises, bumps, rattles, bangs, clangs...nothing....right to go !....fully charged battery n DEFINITELY NO condensation, carbon or cobwebs in the engine or drivetrain......BRING ON THE GARFISH SQUID n Potato chip BBQ !!!!.....WOOOOO HOOOOOO....like the Oasis band sung
