WH/WK 3.0 CRD Oil Leaks
I bought this WH 3 years ago with 300,000 ks on the clock since then i have replaced the following.
Last 8000 kms:
Oil cooler seals, swirl motor, Shocks, Struts, lifted 2 inches, upper and lower control arms front and rear, spring insulators front and rear, inner and outer tie rods, front drive shaft from box to diff, rear hubs, rear brake callipers and hoses.
Replaced in last 2000 km:
Rear main seal, gearbox input shaft seal and service, turbo elephant hose seal, pcv seal, turbo intake seal.
I still have this annoying small engine oil leak running down the passenger side bellhousing to engine seem and dripping off the rubber plug at the bottom, where you would normally see a rear main leaking from.
looks as though its coming from rear of turbo area behind engine, would anyone know if it could be the turbo pedestal gaskets possibly, as those have not been done yet or is there anything else in that area that it could be.
Cheers

If its a WH/K then it would be the Merc 3lt engine with W5A580 gearbox then....
Should be some on here that can identify with your set up....

Thanks Drover,
You are correct the engine is the OM642 turbo Diesel, this is my last old oil leak
to do or the tech who did the rear main and oil cooler possibly has some rework coming his way...lol
Actually i had the shop do the front diff bushings recently and they kill my oil seals removing or reinstalling the c/v shafts and did not replace them so it's going back for those to be rectified in the next couple of weeks, i'd like to try getting to the bottom of this engine oil leak pinned because if it is from them also not doing a job properly (oil cooler and rear main) then they will be needing to redo those as well.
Im going in for a look with my borescope to try and pin it down
Cheers

Not redoing the seals on that sort of job is just making more work all round, idiots........... Wish I could give some insight but only familiar with the 2.7 Merc now though a bit hazy even on that, I skipped the Merc V6 ............... may need to dig way back to find threads on the topic.......

Ccv and pcv
Both of these parts solved the issue, CCV seal was stuffed but replaced PCV as well, plus the turbo intake pipe was cracked where the orange seal sits, where it joins to turbo, this allowed the oil that was getting through the bad CCV seal and sucked into the turbo intake to drip into valley causing the leak that appeared to be the turbo pedastle.
So no more oil leak and no more blowing smoke from exhaust.
You can also buy just the CCV oil seal. See images
Watch this video, it is the same engine, Merc OM642 v6 that is in a WH Grand Cherokee 2006-2010 shows the parts and operation of replacing them.

Since the OM642 its 20 years ago since mounted in a Grand, seals are certainly going to be an issue, since you live in my old home area if you can get the Merc numbers for parts then try "MB Spares" in Fyshwick, ACT, if you have the Benz part numbers they have the gear you need, I would visit my kids in Canberra in my WG days and buy a box full of parts to last a year and save hundreds of dollars... Between them and Rockauto along with my local Merc dealer spares weren't a problem.......... though Repco wasn't too bad either.

Glad you got it fixed Benno50, and nice that you put the pics of the parts and the link up as well, thanks. Now I might get the new seal and do mine too before it gets bad, since its got 365,000 on the clock it is due for it.
