I put my hand over the socket for that last couple of turns so I don't over do it, using the handle is just gorilla torque.

No time today as the 'salt mines' have kept me hopping n I've got 3x bundles of energy arriving soon to keep 'Poppy' entertained....
When replacing the fuel filters I 'usually' dip my finger in the new oil drum and run a smear of oil around the entire seal, fit them by hand until tight then apply the socket for around an 1/8-1/3 of a turn...not much...isnt solid tight...just 'snug'....same as I'd do spinning on a Z9 oil filter...hand tight plus a 'tad'...can 'usually' get my fuel filters off very easily...no great force required...doesnt mean I didnt 'egg it' this time...I may have...will buy a set of filters...replace the 'butchered' drain plug (I bought 3 off AGC for about $15????)....wipe it down then run it for a few days and see if a leak appears....time will tell

When I change mine I just run my finger around the seal as its usually wet with diesel, if your fingers are dry then you must be doing something wrong........... I always leave the fuel filters to last that way the diesel I spill everywhere helps wash all the oil I have knocked over the floor when Ive finished so my hands are always covered in Eau De Diesel.................

Out n under it this morning....housing was 'wet' above the 'base plate'...leak/droplets were coming from the 2x 'prongs' seen at the front of the housing protector plate (????)....could see nothing wrong with filters or mashed drain plug...replaced drain plug n filters...new concern...'ham fist' here may have broken off a lug from the mashed drain plug when removing it....COULDNT find it inside the housing(using fat fingers and every angle available to squeeze those fat fingers into) or in the drained diesel...hoping it drains out at next change ????.....'may' have already been broken off in a prior my ownership incident ????
After assessing EVERYTHING I'm almost certain the leak is in the housing at the front around the 'electrical harness' plugs...if it returns...All Grand Cherokee will get a call and I'll use a hoist to remove and replace the housing...see what eventuates...
