Mobil 1 Delvac ESP 5w - 40 is what I use.
CK4 and CJ4 (meets or exceeds), no specific approval. Full synthetic, and yep, a HD oil.

Yeah, the only 5w 40's that do meet CJ4 spec that I can find are the Shell Rotella T6 5w 40 Full Synthetic, (which FCA recommended), Amsoil API Full Synthetic 5w 40, and Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck Full Synthetic 5w 40.
All available in the US but very hard if not impossible to get here...and if you can find some they are expensive. (There is a Distributor in WA that has the Amsoil), I did get my hands on 10 litres of Shell Rotella T6 5w 40 a while back and it set me $16.71 per litre...delivered.

No sense buying something that is hard to find and a FCA recommendation isn't justification for me to buy it I can tell you.......... if the oil is in spec for the engine then thats what I have always used and to date no fails...... variations on the A630 to L630 and the engine in the RAM make me suss on some of the oil recommends coming out of the US, changes from 2012 to 2015 then again in I think 2019 makes me wonder....., I think a C3 or CJ4 oil is not going to bother it, one being European and one Yank for the same thing, of course the yanks will go API......... while I'm using Nulon at the moment I woudl like to go back to Penrite actually but its so expensive now but would give this Apex a go if I get it on special.

Semi synthetic matters because of the DPF - they don't play nicely together. More minerals/SAPS = more ash = more burns and/or clogged DPF

I thought that but then it wouldn't comply with the CJ4/ E9 specs at all....
API CK-4:
CK-4 oils exceed the performance criteria of API CJ-4, CI-4/PLUS, CH-4 and can effectively lubricate engines calling for those API Service Categories.
Note: When using CK-4 oil with higher than 15 ppm sulphur fuel, consult the engine manufacturer for service interval recommendations.
These oils are formulated for use in all applications with diesel fuels ranging in sulphur content up to 500 ppm (0.05% by weight). However, the use of these oils with greater than 15 ppm (0.0015% by weight) sulphur fuel may impact exhaust after-treatment system durability and/or oil drain interval. ""
ACEA E9:
Designed for Euro 4, Euro 5 & Euro 6 emission diesel engines, with and without DPFs. SAPS limits line up with API CJ-4 & TBN 7 minimum.
Our engines are Euro 5 .................
Penrites ENVIRO+ 10W-40 (FULL SYN.) is my choice but at over $100 for 7 lts, bugga me .............. so I will stick with the Nulon 10W-40 full syn in the gold pack, I can get 10 lts for just over a $100 but usually $85 on specials... and its full syn CJ4.
