if you got central locking i'm pretty sure you don't need one and nemesis is right they just break in and take the keys

Just needs to be a self arming immobliliser. If you don't have a receipt you just sign a statutory declaration.

I'm almost certain it's not a legal requirement to have one installed here unless your selling the car. No insurance company I've been with has ever asked or needed to know if any of my vehicles had an immobilizer.

ever made a claim for theft? sure you could lie about having an immobilizer? but really stop being tight, fraud and worry isnt worth the few hundred bucks!

No never claimed for theft, i was merely pointing out that nowhere on an application for insurance does it ask you if there is one installed and out of the handful of pds' and terms of cover ive read it mentions nothing of immobilisers. all my current vehicles do have one,but my 05 navara which was a commercial never had one from new and only required it if you were selling it on. I wrote that ute off and it didn't have one in it, I'm sure if you needed one they would have refused my claim because I didn't fully disclose the vehicles condition.
