Is light reflection an issue with roof light bar?

Yes you may need spacers, you can make this up with some washers easily enough.

I'm just running a pair of ebay special flood LED's. I think they were $10 each. They are double row and 18w each I think. My roof lightbar is also double row and has flood left and right and spot in the center.

Between those three and the IPFs on the bullbar, it's a heck of a lot of light, but I don't make a habit of running all of them at the same time. I need it for country driving and seeing in the dunes at night. Make sure you get it wired in by a trusted shop.

One last point, you can pay stupid amounts of money for light bars and you can spend very little. I have a friend who has spent lots of money for brand name stuff, and I've noticed no quality or performance difference with my Chinese stuff. Just make sure it's wired and installed properly and you'll be ok.

The glare is dependent on the angle and width of the LED bar. Bad optics can also cause the light from shining onto the hood.

Something else I just thought of, I don't know if the Ranger did it as well but the Wranglers with a windscreen light bar tend to whistle in the wind.

It's an easy fix, go to Clark Rubber and buy some pinch weld. Place this along the edge of the lowest of the cooling fins you can and it will pretty much eliminate it.

You may get some noise in certain directions when it's really windy but it's not very often.

As mentioned, with the brackets you are going to use, pack the space between the end of the light bar and the bracket fork with washers.

You don't want the light bar mounting bolts pulling the bracket in as it will strip the thread eventually. To help with this, once you have the light bar in the position you want, use Loctite Stud Lock glue 243 or 263 so it holds in place.

I actually used some packing beans that the bar shipped in. I just put one in between each fin on either end. No more whistling.

The Ranger was good in that regard, no whistling at all from the roof bars or light bar.

The fixes for whistling are good, I'll keep these in mind for when the time comes.


I think the bar is an odd size at 51", all the brackets are either 50" or 52". I might need to keep searching for the right bracket because the light bar is curved which means it won't sit flush on the bracket. May or may not be an issue to consider.

It being curved shouldn't make a difference as the ends of the light are in line as to appear straight.

The A pillar brackets are all pretty much the same so it won't matter which one you buy. There are plenty of owners on here with curved light bars with similar brackets that you want.
