Thanks for the TSB. I've seen that one before and I thought, "Nah that can't be for ours"

It's not so much the engine failing, one of my very first new cars, a Peugeot 307 was a lemon, but each time I brought it in, a loaner was ready and service was immaculate. In the end after about 8 months and 37 visits, they exchanged the car. Our X5 4.4 petrol was exchanged without cost for a 3.0 diesel, because of a cracked cilinder, at 80000km!!!

It is shocking how bad the integration of all the different departments are, new sales doesn't talk to used sales and none of em talk to service department. In turn their relationship with Chrysler Australia is non-existent.

My team in Melbourne has identified most members of the management team at Chrysler Australia (surprisingly most of them have 'marketing' in their title).

I am on the hunt, as I will not accept anything less than an engine replacement. My lawyer loves a good fight.

Yep the old inline sixes went forever!.........the Pentastar V6 is a shortened development of the 4.7 V8 and current Hemis, which IMHO aren't as good as the old Chrysler A blocks (post mid-60's 318/5.2 and 360/5.9)

Why the panic from everyone, give Jeep a chance to sort it before worrying about anything else, Jeeps all ways been great to deal with from my experience with warranty claims even though I run a 5" lift, 35's & covered in bush tattoos & dents, no questions asked, they just fix it

Is it a rattle simliar to oil starvation. I think the issue with a batch of US V6 petrols was swarf not cleaned out prior to assembly that sound a little more catastrophic. My wifes new Hyundai Elantra has a second or so rattle on start up that is yet to manifest into something as serious as you sound to have. In your case, could it be the upper oil gallery?
