great read and top work on the XJ - you have done more yourself then most others - credit to your skills !

Some days i wish i didn't. It's like a disease. I can't help it i just want to learn more - about everything. I guess it's a good thing. Keeps me away from drinking and drugs which seems to be the cool thing to do at my age. I guess i just don't fit in.

Thanks mate. It really means a lot. Seriously.

I can't wait to get this rig back on the road. I picked up that tranny but i don't think that's the one that's going in this jeep. I got to the pizzafest and didn't tell anyone i was the kid there picking up the AW4. Needless to say after they thought the 'guy who wanted the AW4 didn't show up' they began talking about how it slipped, was filled with water, sat outside for years, etc etc.

Not worth my time installing it. Contemplating buying another jeep and just swapping all my parts over. Sure it's more work, but it's a chance to start over.

Honestly, i don't know.

Default Project "Apache Resistance".

Good thing you didn't pick it up then!
Did you work out if it was the flex plate that blew?

Oh no, i picked it up. It's sitting in the garage. Missing a valve body. I don't think it's worth it. Might considering picking one up on craigslist, but then i have to figure out if it still works or not and that's never fun.

Which is why i'm considering just buying another XJ and starting over. Almost got a 5 speed 2 door last week for $1500. Someone beat me to it though.

I didn't work anything out. I haven't even looked at the thing yet. I'm towing it to my work once it gets warmer out so i have a bigger place to work on it.

Jeep is at work. Starting to pull it apart tonight.

Got myself some transmissions as well.

- Three AW4s
- One AX15.

Now I even have a choice between stick and auto.

Paid $150 for the one with the TCase still attached to it and the rest I got for free.

Pulled the tranny tonight, well, more like dropped it, 7 feet from the jeep, to the ground, but it's out either way.

Believe it or not no damage was sustained during that fall. It was already cracked before it fell.

When i got the thing up in the air i noticed a HUGE crack running from the starter all the way over the bellhousing down the other side of the housing. I have no idea how i didn't see that earlier. Half of the bolts weren't holding anything in place.

Pulled the T-case off, then pulled the tranny and all the wires/sensors/plugs associated with it. Hacked the exhaust in half as well.

None of the flexplate bolts were gone, snapped, or even for that matter loose. I guess something just went i'm done inside the tranny and that was all she wrote.

Hey good to see you back on it. Been a bit chilly I'll bet. Wouldn't be hard to miss the cracks with it all bolted up and dirty and all that.

I like work, it fascinates me. I sit and stare at it for hours.
