Default KL Trailhawk

Hey Guys. New to the forum as I have just purchased a Trailhawk.

A little worried about the transmission issues and the Occupant Restraint Control module issues.

Has anyone had the recall letters yet from and Jeep? Has anyone had these issues with their vehicle?

I have asked the dealer about these issues but they have not been forthcoming with info as yet.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You should relax, its a nice car, enjoy it!

All new release cars have problems (and old ones as well) you can worry yourself to death over it but 99% of people are usually happy with their purchase at the end of the day. If it does develop an issue, well, you have a warranty.

+1 Hayesio.

I have an MY15 KL Trailhawk - only 6 weeks in but it's a great vehicle.

I did a fair bit of research on the KL before signing up for the Jeep and by all accounts it seems the transmission problems reported by some stemmed from software issues in earlier builds. As best I've seen on the web these have been sorted out now - I've no complaints or concerns with mine. If yours is an early build then perhaps a software reflash is in order.

Likewise the ORC is also a software issue and is only a risk at extreme angles in offroad situations. Airbags aren't going to deploy while you're on your way to work. Take it to your dealer and they'll update the software.

New cars have around 30,000 parts in them - by my count that's a lot of parts! I don't expect perfection - that's what warranties are for. If something goes wrong I'll deal with it when it happens. I love the Jeep, so I could forgive it a couple of issues. What's the alternative, anyway? Buy a compact SUV from Japan or Europe that's pointless off road, boring, and I'd hate every moment of? No thanks!

Hi Houssayn

What is the build date of your vehicle?

R01 (transmission) is pertinent to vehicles with build dates within June 17th 2013 and December 1st 2014. It's considered a 'Customer Satisfaction' flash so if you are experiencing shifting issues and your vehicle falls between these dates then you should consider having it done.

R05 (airbags deploying when your Jeep happens to be at a weird angle ) Your dealer has this update. As Lujabe has recommended, talk to them - perhaps have it done when you're in for your first 10,000kms service (unless you are intending for some very serious off-road experiences prior to this).

Build date is June 2014. Transmission was a little jerky but after a couple hours it got smoother.

Took her away camping over the weekend and it was an absolute pleasure to drive and fit all our stuff in the back easily.
