Mate, I have had my brand 2013 JKU for about 6 months. My first ever 4wd. No experience and been taking on extreme tracks, with no dramas. With one of these vehicles, you will be fine with the mustard dept
I do have a bunch of mods though.
Understand the budget lift bit. I guess it depends if your mechanically minded and can install your self?
Maybe have a chat to TJM (PM member on here Piggy) or ARB. Westside 4x4 are pretty good or Ryan at Global 4x4 (Member on here UNR8D). Or you can join a club (BJC etc) they often do toolbox nights. You could buy a decent lift and get it installed with the help of some experienced Jeepers, who are very capable with the tools.
In my
limited experience I have found a good lift makes a difference. I use Stu ( Member on here CRDSTU. Owns Murchison Products) as do most guys on here in Brissy. Easily the best in my opinion. He is definitely the Jeep whisperer and has a massive range to suit most budgets. I am biased cause I swear by Stu but I am told the others are great as well. I am sure there are many who sear by them also...
Feel free to just enjoy your vehicle for now and come out on some runs with everyone. BJC (Brisbane Jeep Club) are doing a couple of trips in Nov. Check out the website. You don't have to be a member to come along.
GREAT bunch of guys. Bend over backwards to help out a fellow Jeeper and full of great advice. I watched 2 guys from BJC guide/direct/winch a stock Feroza and Triton ute up some extreme tracks in Glass House Mountains last month. Experience!! For the record, the Jeeps on that run had no drama
I am more on the Western side of Brissy. Around the Corinda area. I will keep an eye out for you. I have a white JKU, am around the same age(ish) and a family man also. More than happy for you to come checkout my car if you like. See what ideas you might want, the lift etc. Mine is my daily driver and has to be suitable for my family.
Anyways, Might see you on a run soon.
Cheers
