Default How bad can this "bar" be

Ebay has a bunch of cheap front and rear bars, they're around $400 delivered.

This is the one

For a basic upgrade to the stock 2013 JKU bumper, how bad is it.

It looks good, but it is what it is, a cheap Chinese front bumper that's not ADR compliant. Don't expect it to save your front end from a hit, that's all.

Have a look at some of the feedback they are getting though before you decide to buy. Missing mounting hardware, scratches and bumps from poor packaging. Lack of answers if there is parts missing. Some one is even complaining that there is hair in the paintwork.

Personally, keep saving and buy something you won't regret.

Personally, I'd buy an ADR approved front, for insurance peace of mind, if nothing else. But their rear bars are tempting! <$450 for a rear & $549 for one with a tyre carrier.

I'd budget the savings for any bits I need to get it up to what I want.

Yeah not sure you could even get one certified in NSW.
"The aftermarket component must pass a full set of tests specified in the applicable ADR(s); no abridged test or alternatives are permitted in lieu of these tests. Where necessary the aftermarket component must be tested in a vehicle"
From rms website

You could use it till September 2019 maybe...

2 opinions:

What would be your ideal bumper? Is there any way to save up for that? What would be something you'd be happy with that is made by a reputable company? I would be hard pressed to endorse something that may compromise your safety, the safety of your passengers, or the safety of someone you may interact with at speed. Not to mention insurance and legality!

Tires, brakes, bumpers, etc. I feel it is worth it to buy something that is professional and rated well, because I don't want to walk around knowing I hurt someone to save a few bucks on an aftermarket upgrade.

That is just my little safety opinion rant, my straight up experience opinion is to save some cash up and get one you'll be proud of, does the job safely and perfectly for your ride, and that fits on the first try. Have done the cheap route and it rattled a bit and sagged a bit and was scratched to hell in shipping. Ended up buying a better one a year later and selling the cheap one for $50.

You can't, the D-Ring holders means that it is not ADR compliant. Not that it stops anyone from fitting them
