Interesting what you say about the Ryco Filter, as i have used them in the past ,as the parts shop is only up the road, where as the dealer is in town. Last time i was in town i bought a ouple of OE oil and air filters, so all good now. On another point, i also had to change an idler pulley, was quoted some ridiculous price from jeep, got one from CBC Bearings, for a FORD no less, same size of course, but only $25 odd bucks, so shop around!

this only applies for the 2.5's the 2.8's are different
I changed part of a heater hose. On the 2.5 they are crimped on so I cut the crimp connection leaving the flared bit so the hose had something to grip to
I used a heater hose from a vb commodore part number CH1325 from super cheap which cost $7 then I cut it to size.

Default Serpentine tensioner & idler pulleys

I posted this in another thread and later thought it might be useful here. It is about the idler pulleys on the CRD (don't know if they use the same on petrol versions) as follows:

"You could also just obtain the new bearing and replace the three rivets with bolts and Loctite or Nyloc nuts. OK it may be a bit fiddly at first but after that, bearing replacement becomes easier and possibly cheaper as you are only buying the bearing and reusing the pulley each time."

NTN bearing part number :6203 LHA (high temp application)
SKF " " " :6203-2Z/VA201 or 6203-2Z/VA228 (either will do-both high temp)

Does anyone know if the same is used for the timing belt idlers?
Cheers

The ryco oil filter listed for the 2.5 crd is the Z596 which is the same as the XJ 2.5 diesel
The Z631 is listed for the 2.8crd which seemed a bit odd

Some prices I got
Ryco Z596 $41.90 from Repco
Repco ROF-88 (same as Z596) $21 from Repco

Ryco Z596 $22 from Super Cheap
Ryco Z631 $24 from Super cheap

I know the OE ones are cheaper but I dont live near any dealers
